About SCAVM

The Southern California Association of Violin Makers is a nonprofit organization devoted to advancing the art of violin making. The Association was founded by Harry S. Wake in San Diego in 1964 and held monthly meetings through 2017.

We are currently on hiatus, but would be interested to hear from any violin makers seeking community and potentially mutual support, particularly, but not necessarily in Southern California.

Email HERE if you are interested in contacting SCAVM.

The Association published a monthly Bulletin which reported on subjects presented at meetings and frequently contained practical articles that were helpful to both beginning and advanced violin makers. Theoretical topics were also presented. Our members were encouraged to contribute to the Bulletin.

The Association occasionally gave exhibits, workshops, and lectures, and facilitaed occaisional concerts.
